ESG is a set of standardized parameters (shared with the markets) that precisely measure the environmental, social and governance performance of a company, a measurement that goes hand in hand with the traditional rating.
Entering into the ESG acronym for:
- "Environmental", which concerns the impact on the environment and territory;
- Social, which includes all initiatives with a social impact;
- Governance, which concerns more internal aspects of the Company and its administration.
The"Environmental"criterion refers to numerous parameters such as attention to climate change, food safety,the containment of carbon dioxide emissions and the reduction of the use of natural resources.
It therefore includes all the initiatives and actions that aim to make the "Entrepreneurial Project" compatible with the environment and the territory first and executive projects of all kinds (and then their implementation): the challenge is to reduce as much as possible the impact that every human activity determines on the territory in all its socio-technical, socio-economic and socio-cultural components, the stakeholders.
The "Social" criterion, includes all corporate / project decisions and initiatives that have a social impact. The founding principles of the project and the management association of the sector, widely stated above, therefore include elements such as:
- Respect for human rights;
- Respect for the "Person";
- Gender equality;
- The rejection of all forms of discrimination with the overcoming of judgments and prejudices.
To these elements is added, therefore, the precise desire to contribute to increasing the well-being of the inhabitants of the area in which the company will carry out the project, also through serious attention and participation in the social life of the Communities.
The last criterion of the ESG is the one that includes the company's “Governance” responsibilities.
These criteria primarily concern the Decisional Structures to which the production factors are entrusted (Capital, Labor, Organization), structures that cooperatively have to reconcile the overall balance of entrepreneurial initiatives with "composite objectives", ROI and ESG.
This is followed by respect for meritocracy, diversity policies in the composition of administrative bodies, the fight against all forms of corruption, and retribution ethics.
